Dear Nick and Miss Tizard.

First of all we would like to thank you for sending us this letter.  

We learnt a lot about pollution from reading your letter.  We learned that we are under a huge hole in the Ozone Layer.  We also learned how we need to wear two layers of sunscreen when it's really sunny outside instead of one!  We think that it was an interesting book that you read about pollution and that you learned a lot from reading it.  We are hoping that you will enjoy reading our letter about what we have been learning about …….soil.

At school we have been learning about soil and how it keeps us alive.  Soil is like our life, because without soil we wouldn’t be living right now.  Did you know that soil is like the skin of our Earth, like humans have skin?  Without soil there would be no food and there would be chaos.  We don’t want to have that.  But with soil, we will be healthy and we will be eating healthy food.  Soil also  helps plants and trees grow so that we can have oxygen to breath.

We hope you have learnt a lot about soil from our letter.  Now help us take care of the soil because it is our life support.  We hope you enjoyed our letter like we enjoyed yours.

Team Building

At the end of this Term we took part in a Year 6 Team building challenge in the Auditorium.  We had to work together to build a bridge that was wide enough for a ball to pass through and strong enough to hold a dictionary.

This Term we have been working with Youth Town sports and learning different hockey skills.  

About The Artist

About the Artist Andrei is 10 years old.  He lives in Pigeon Mountain Road, Auckland.   Andrei was born in October 2nd 2005. Andrei has been attending Elm Park for 3 years and is a Year 6 student.  His favourite subjects are Maths, Reading and P.E. He enjoyed mixing colours, painting the color wheel and finally vividing to make the art work stand out. The school values Andrei used were perseverance and quality.   As the quality of the work had to be a high standard and he persevered to make his work a high standard. When he grows up he wants to be a famous Soccer Player because his passion is Soccer.

Learning Reflection

I am learning to write in the third person.

I am proud of being able to write in third person because it is new to me.

It can be tricky and confusing to write in third person as this is new to me.

My teacher and classmates can help me.

The next step for me might be to learn to right in third person.
